Finding the Mustang - March 2006

It was March of 2006 when I was visiting my best friend, Roy.  Roy lives in Melba, Idaho atop a large hill with several acres of ground where he has built an eco-friendly, round house, (maybe more on that someday).  The point here is that his nephew had driven an old 1970 Ford Mustang Grande Deluxe out to the back of his property to leave it parked for storage, several years past.  The car was in fair condition, though I never did try to start it.  I offered the boy $900 which he turned down, only to call me back two weeks later and accept.  Feeling magnanimous that day, I offered to pay him an additional $50 for the car.  The sale was completed March 27, 2006.

The next problem was how to have it hauled to my home in Boise, Idaho some 40 miles away.  Then I decided to just call AAA and I told them that my car had died, needing it towed to my home so I could fix it.  After all those premiums to AAA I felt no shame in using their service for this transport.  So, by late in the afternoon the car was sitting on my RV parking, next to my house inside the fence, (lord help me if my prissy ‘neighborhood association’ were to see the car parked on the street).

There the Ponycar sat for several months until I was able to decide how I was going to proceed on restoring the car.
